After Hours (1985)
Paul (Griffin Dunne) can’t escape SoHo by subway or taxi, and he can’t just walk uptown because crazy Gail (Catherine O’Hara) has riled up SoHo’s residents into thinking he’s the burglar. Taking refuge, Paul meets a sweet and quiet artist in a bar who hides him from the crowd by wrapping him in papier mache. Before she can cut him out, the real burglars break into her place, and cart him away — also convinced he’s just a statue. As the night gives way to morning, the burglars’ van ascends from SoHo, until hitting a pothole near Paul’s office. Paul is ejected from the van — and from the statue when it shatters. Utterly defeated, a dust-encrusted Paul picks himself up and returns to his office for another drudgery-filled cubicle day.
Oh yeah — the bartender guy was the boyfriend of Marcy (Rosanna Arquette); Marcy had no scars or burns… anywhere.
