Amityville II: The Possession (1982)
We think this is actually a prequel to The Amityville Horror, because it seems to depict the murders that happened before James Brolin and Margot Kidder move in. Anyway…
Burt Young beats his kids while wife Rutanya Alda just looks pained. Meanwhile, teen son Sonny (Jack Magner) gets possessed by the demon(s) in the house, and, when his whole body isn’t pulsating with weird bulges, seduces his sister (Diane Franklin, who made a career of playing hot but none-too-bright teenyboppers, as in The Last American Virgin — and who has the best line in this numbingly unpleasant movie, when she asks Sonny what he’s doing with her panties). Ultimately, Sonny flips out and kills the whole family. Good riddance. Unfortunately, Sonny’s still alive…
The family priest (James Olson) breaks Sonny out of jail in order to perform an exorcism back inside the haunted house. (Why does the exorcism have to take place back in the house? Good question.) It works, leaving Sonny the rest of his life to hate himself for shagging his sister before blowing her and their kid brother away with a shotgun. (Yeah, he shot their parents too, but they’re so repulsive, Sonny has no reason to feel bad about that. And neither does the audience.)
