The Bad Seed (1956)
Claude Dagel drowned after Rhoda beat him on the head and hands with her shoes; the metal bits on the soles were what made the half-moon marks. After Leroy figures this out, Rhoda sets his excelsior bed aflame and locks the cellar door. Rhoda’s mother gives Rhoda an overdose of sleeping pills, and then shoots herself in the head, but they both survive. Rhoda sneaks out of the house at night to retrieve the penmanship medal from the lake, and is struck by lightning and killed. But then the whole cast comes back to take their bows, and Rhoda gets a good spanking.
