Dawn of the Dead (1978)
The stupid pilot (David Emge) gets half-eaten in an elevator. The crack marksman (Scott H. Reiniger) gets bitten by a zombie and finally dies; his living-dead corpse has to be shot. As the zombies finally break into the group’s hidey-hole, the black guy (Ken Foree) forces the blonde (Gaylen Ross) to escape in the helicopter (she’s pregnant, by the way) and leave him to commit suicide. Just as he’s about to shoot himself in the head with something that looks like a teeny-tiny toy Derringer (with all those big rifles and pistols around, he chooses that?) — but at the last second, he refuses to give in to the zombies, and fights his way through to the roof, and escapes with the blonde.
